Weekly Newsletter: Week of March 18

26 March, 2013

A Retraction
Yes, in all of my excitement about Orin Swift last week, this writer (and English teacher) made a mistake! Orin Swift’s founder’s name is David Phinney NOT Finney. Lesson learned- triple check name spellings! Grammar gods- 1, Kim- 0. I apologize, but regardless of the spelling, the man still makes great wine that we are happy to stock for your drinking enjoyment! Thank you for understanding.
On a more positive note, THANK YOU to everyone who came out for the Italian Wine Tasting on Tuesday night. It was a huge success and the Antinori family wines were enjoyed by all! Stay tuned for our next tasting adventure!
Calendar of Events Saturday, March 30- Live music by Andy Saum 6-8pm and Pig Meat Papa returns! Get ready for some great grub!
Sunday, March 31- Easter- CLOSED ~Read next week’s newsletter for Easter wine recommendations~

Tasting Info This week’s wine tasting will feature 4 new wines from all over the globe that are great examples of the famous varietals from their respective regions. We will be sampling a Pinot Grigio from Italy, a 90 point French white, a Bonarda from Argentina and a 90 point Australian Shiraz.
This week’s beer tasting features 2 new brews, an Ohio seasonal and a Texas-sized Stout. Come drink new and big with us!
As always, for the complete list, please click here.
Feature Item This week we are taking a page from Wine Spectator and featuring Le Rime Pinot Grigio from Banfi. This 2011 Tuscan white received 87 points and was featured in their latest issue as a Best Value wine- meaning it received solid scores, has a moderate price and is widely available. Le Rime is fresh, fruity and crisp with moderate acidity and flavors of peach, grapefruit and apple. This wine holds up well on its own as an aperitif or would pair well with antipastos and light fares. Come see what the fuss is all about for only $9.99 a bottle.
Dan’s Pick With all of the new wine and beer that came in this week, Dan couldn’t choose just one item—so we are featuring one distributor. Euro Fine Wines is a distributor we dealt with in the past but haven’t been in touch with again until recently. They just re-structured and we are thrilled to have their products back on our shelves. Several of their products are featured in this newsletter and are denoted with an (*) asterisk. We will also be featuring 3 of their wines and 2 of their beers in our weekly tastings! We hope you enjoy their products as much as we do!   According to the calendar, spring is officially here! However, we are still waiting on the abundant sunshine, warmer temperatures, blooming flowers, marshmallow bunnies… and… patio season! For now this is just a teaser, but it will be here soon enough! Stay tuned for the official patio opening announcement- you will hear it here first!
