Tasting Info This week’s wine tasting is a bit of a history lesson.  For those of you history buffs out there, you know that without the French, the story of American independence would be very different… To honor both countries, we will sample wine from well respected winemakers, both named Charles, from each country; Charles Smith and Charles Bieler. We will even sample a wine the two men collaborated to make!
This week’s beer tasting will feature all American brews- 3 new brews from Cellar Rats and Avery’s Ellie’s Brown Ale.
As always, for the complete list, please click here.
Feature Item This week we are featuring one of our “other” beverage options. If you’re not in the mood for beer or wine, but still want to sip an all-American adult beverage- we have a great option for you. Hoosier Momma Spicy Bloody Mary Maker from Brownsburg, Indiana! It is advertised as a hearty blend of citrus and spices with a slow burn from a secret blend of chili peppers and horseradish! All you have to do is mix with your favorite vodka, pour over ice and enjoy! A 32 oz bottle sells for $7.99 and is even vegan and gluten free.  As Momma says “Drink your veggies!”
Dan’s Pick
Dan’s Picks for this week keep with our patriotic theme. He has chosen two wines from the Graziano family- who immigrated to the United States from Italy in the early 1900’s seeking the American dream. They planted vineyards in Mendocino County, California, bootlegged their way through the Depression, merged with local co-opers and today their great-grandson continues the family’s winemaking tradition.
Graziano- Grenache- $24.99- is a rich red full of black cherry and spice flavors. It has been aged for 20 months in oak to develop smooth tannins and a long finish.
Monte Volpe- Nube Bianco (white cloud in Italian)- $16.99 is a blend of 5 Italian grapes that has crisp flavors of melon, peach and freesia flowers. It has been aged in oak for 5 months and is wonderful as an aperitif or pairs well with fish and seafood.
Final Thoughts Please celebrate safely while enjoying all the festivities, food, fireworks and freedoms of the day! Happy 4th of July!
