News 🗞
A lot of news to share. First and foremost, if you're planning ahead for Valentine's Day and are one of the unlucky ones who can't attend our dinner, we have put together a package for you. A full dinner package for two, in fact. It will include an appetizer (bread, brie, and jam), an entrée (2 beef tenderloin, 2 lobster tails, 2 au gratin potatoes, a side of haricots verts), a dessert (French macarons), and two bottles of wine, all for the bargain price of $125. I actually can't believe how good of a deal that is. It will be simple to bring together in the kitchen, as well. I will try to have plenty on hand, but if you are definitely interested in purchasing for you and your loved one, give us a call so we can reserve one for you. Now as for this weekend's news, we have our Art Walk Wine Tasting tomorrow in the store from 5-7pm. We have four new wines on deck, and you get a pour of each plus snacks for $20. On the bar side, we will have a food special on both Friday night and Saturday, Baked Mac & Cheese from scratch. Maurizio Trofie pasta from Italy with a homemade cream sauce loaded up with a Hatch Green Chile Cheddar and a couple other cheeses, tossed and then baked until golden, $9.99. And then obviously the Super Bowl is on Sunday. We are of course closed being a Sunday, but we've got plenty of beer and the goods for your table. Check our the Food Features for more on that.

Wine Feature ⭐️
The feature this week is a heck of a bargain... a wine that would have retailed at over $70, and we have it at HALF that price, $34.99. Man, I love finding deals. It's Patrick Sullivan 2020 Rain Pinot Noir from Victoria, Australia. Now, we you think Australian wine, you normally think Barossa, but Victoria is a bit of a hidden secret. With a Mediterranean climate, they produce some of the most elegant wines coming out of the country, and this bottle is a perfect example of that. We tasted this bottle last week, and it surprised us in more ways than one. This bottle is 100% Pinot Noir from 30+ year old vines in a single vineyard. They are biodynamically dry-farmed in volcanic soil and hand-harvested, then fermented with native yeasts. It is a truly clean, quality wine. The wine is extremely light in color - a bit deceiving, really - but full of flavor with balanced fruitiness and earthiness. You'll find notes of rhubarb, strawberry, tarragon, mint, and a very dry, well-rounded finish. This is well worth the price any day, but half off? A no brainer.

Wine Pick 🥂
The pick this week is an interested little bottle out of France that I'm excited about, the Loregil 2019 Château de Pennautier Cabardès Rouge. We're calling it a Rhône-Boreaux fusion wine., so if you're a fan of either region, you should give it a try. While the Rhône specializes in GSM blends and Bordeaux in Cab and Merlot, this bottle from an estate in Languedoc combines the two worlds. I don't always love wines from Languedoc, but this one passed the test. Comprised of 30% Syrah, 10% Grenache, 40% Merlot, and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, this $19.99 bottle packs a punch. "Noticeable aromas of red cherry, plum, raspberry and spice. On the palate this wine is dry with darker flavors than the nose would lead us to believe: blackberry, licorice root, and black cherry. This wine is well-structured with fine tannins, and a hint of charming rusticity." It doesn't hurt that the winery is one of the prettiest châteaux I've seen in a while...
Food Features 🏈
Sunday is the Super Bowl, so of course we're talking up all our game-worthy goods that we have in stock. If you're rooting for the Chiefs, there are a handful of fully-cooked St. Louis Ribs, a rack for $29.99. It's not Kansas City exactly, but it's close. If you're an Eagles fan, we've got some great Bavette steaks you can slice up for cheesesteaks, $12.99 apiece. Otherwise, we've got a full restock of the frozen pizzas that we carry from Massa in Chicago. Sicilian-style pizzas on a foccaccia crust, your choice of Italian Sausage, Roasted Veggie, and now Pepperoni as well. A price of $14.99 on all of those. And of course we have delicious snacks... Final Thoughts 💬
We've tasted I don't know how many wines over the past week, trying to find new things to bring in for all of you in 2025 while the prices are still good. I've gotten some crazy deals on a few bottles, which we can point out to you in the store. For some reason I keep getting drawn to the Italian wines, too... I wonder why that is? It seems like the more flights and Airbnbs I look at, the more Italian wines I buy.... But there are some truly fantastic new wines coming in soon, so keep an eye out for them. We may just have to rearrange some things in the store to make room, but by gosh, we'll make it happen one way or another.
Cheers from all of us here at the Wine Merchant!
