News 🗞

Doubling up on events this weekend... again. First on Friday night, we have another Lenten Special. Nearing the end of these soon... thank goodness, we're running out of ideas. Turns out our creative juices are finite, who knew? But this Friday will be our much beloved Ahi Tuna Tacos. You'll get two flour tortillas stuffed to the brim with rich Ahi Tuna, fresh Mango Salsa that we just whipped up, and a housemade Wasabi Cream Sauce to add a little spice. We love serving Ahi Tuna, and you seem to love eating it. Hey Best of Findlay, are we Findlay's #1 spot for seafood yet? Then on Saturday (drumroll.......) it's our annual Lamb-O-Rama event! We have this event every year to celebrate the transition from Winter into Spring. You know, in like a lion and out like a lamb... if you haven't heard that, you're too young to be reading this newsletter. Anyway, starting Saturday around noon and serving until close, we'll have a full Lamb Dinner that will consist of a Seasoned Leg of Lamb, tied and slow-roasted on the rotisserie, served with a Greek Orzo Salad and Pita Bread, topped with a Lemon Herb Sauce. Juicy, tender, full of zesty flavor, and of course we will have wine and beer to pair with it. I'm drooling thinking about it. For dessert, we're trying out something new... Loukoumades, little Greek donuts topped with a honey syrup and chopped pistachios. Who wouldn't like that? Speaking of honey, let's start talking about Easter. Starting next week, we will be stocking Frozen Dearborn Spiral Honey Glazed Hams, $5.99/lb, 6-9 pounds for a half ham. If you are in need of a ham for your table, stop on down or give us a call.



Wine Feature ⭐️

My feature this week is from a new offshoot of the Cakebread brand, the Bezel 2023 Chardonnay. If you know Cakebread, you know that with over 50 years of experience in California, they make very good but slightly expensive Chardonnay. Well, Bezel comes to us at a pleasant $21.99 price point. Hailing from California's San Luis Obispo County AVA, which stretches from Santa Barbara to Monterey, this Chardonnay benefits from a long coastal growing season, which adds bright citrus acidity to the wine. Eight months in French oak then adds a subtle creaminess to round it out. The winemaker says, "Our fresh-faced San Luis Obispo Coast Chardonnay is a character you can’t wait to meet. Uplifting flavors of lemon zest and Granny Smith apple shine bright, with juicy pear and the warm hug of vanilla spice." If you like oaked Chardonnays, I think you'll like this. If you like unoaked Chardonnays, I think you'll like this. If you don't like Chardonnay, well... maybe it's time to give it another try.



Wine Pick 🥂

This week's pick is also from San Luis Obispo County, but further south/inland in the very popular Paso Robles area. It's a bit of a special bottle this week, the Victor Hugo 2014 Petit Verdot. Now you may be thinking a couple of things... 2014, that's old... Petit Verdot, that's a grape? Petit Verdot is normally used as a blending grape. It's dark and inky in color, and it adds body, tannin, and black fruit flavors to big and bold red blends. It's a less common grape, and it can be a little finnicky so you don't often see it as a single varietal. Until now! This bottle is well-balanced with "intense aromas of crushed violets and unsweetened chocolate with wisps of exotic floral notes are complimented by a background of subtle oak. This wine is a mouthful with an elegant sufficiency of tannins and toasty oak followed by an extended, rich finish." Yes, 2014 is on the older side for this red, but it's still drinking extremely well, just don't sit on it for too long. And that's why we got it at such a great price... normally $30-40, but we're selling it at $18.99. If you want to try it, come on in this weekend... we will be featuring it as the glass pour this weekend because what does it pair well with? Why, lamb of course.



Food Feature 🥩

Last week, we had a customer test out a steak for us... he was so impressed, he asked to stock up this week, so we got in two full boxes. Fresh Wagyu Baseball Steaks, 6oz cuts for $10.99. And actually, we got so many, we put some in the freezer too for longer storage. They are beautifully red and marbled and would be the centerpiece of a fantastic meal.

Final Thoughts 💬

We had more talk of the tariffs from our vendors today... there is legitimate fear that 200% tariffs will be put into immedate effect at any time, and many wine companies, especially smaller ones, will not survive it. Many shipments have been put on hold for the time being until there is a clearer picture of how this will play out. If there are any international wines you'd like to stock up on, now is the time to give us a call. Better safe than sorry.
