Newsletter for the Week of February 11th, 2013

21 February, 2013

The best isn’t yet to come, it’s here…

It appears that Wine Spectator magazine has been browsing our store. On pages 105 and 106 of the March issue they list Smart Buys- wines that deliver fine character at affordable prices and that are broadly available. Of the 8 listed, we currently have 5 in stock; Meiomi- Pinot Noir, Mollydooker- Two Left Feet, Concha y Toro- Marques de Casa Concha, Klinker Brick- Syrah, Bodegas Borsao- Berola. All of these wines were given 90-92 points (on a 100 scale) from the magazine. This puts them in the “Outstanding” category, meaning they are wines of superior character and style!  Those pages simply validate what we’ve been saying all along- we are the place that makes the best wines approachable and affordable!

Tasting Info
This week’s wine tasting will feature Dan’s picks from last week along with 2 regular store residents. We will start with a fruity yet dry Chenin Blanc, then a White Burgundy from Albert Bichot, next is a Cotes Du Rhone and we will end with an Australian “Concoction.”

This week’s beer tasting will feature some brews new to us. We will have 2 new brews (Longboard Lager and Fire Rock Pale Ale) from Kona brewing in Hawaii, Double Chocolate Stout from Rogue and a peach lambic. Come give this eclectic grouping a try!

As always, for the complete list please click here.

Feature Item
This week’s feature item is a unique brew from one of our favorite breweries; Sweet Action from Sixpoint in Brooklyn. Sweet Action is 3 ales all brewed together; a wheat ale, a pale ale and a cream ale. The brewery’s website describes it as bitter and sweet- we think it’s just a great, light colored, flavorful beer! As all Sixpoint brews do, it comes in 4 pack cans and can be yours for $8.99. If you want something just outside the norm, look for the yellow box featuring the Sixpoint Brewers star.

Dan’s Picks
Dan’s Picks for this week are the absolute best bargain we have in the store! In fact, Montgras from Chile is a 2 part bargain! Not only is it just $6.99 a bottle but it comes in 9 bottle cases (instead of 12.) As always if you buy a case you get 10% off! We have both their Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay in stock! Get it while it lasts!

In case all of the previous information in this newsletter is not enough to entice you to come visit us, we also have special glass pours of Mollydooker available at the bar. Come enjoy a glass of The Boxer (Shiraz), Maitre D (Cabernet) and/or Blue Eyed Boy (Shiraz) and bid on the Argyle prints!
